QHR’s The Guide

ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER AND PRETTY SOON, IT’S FIVE YEARS LATER

As a hospital management company, one of QHR’s (formerly Quorum Health Resources) functions is to help rural hospitals with marketing and public relations.

In 2001 QHR asked Tanner to help. Tanner proposed a generic PR campaign called The Guide, to be sent to client hospitals in both printed and electronic form three times a year. Hospitals began using the contents in their entirety by changing only the logos.

Tanner realized there was an opportunity for dialog among the employees in hospital marketing departments, who were usually individual employees whose main job was not marketing. Tanner published a calendar of events and provided a form on which hospitals could report success stories, which we then added to The Guide.

The result was that the individuals performing the marketing jobs by themselves became connected. This community of individuals in turn credited QHR with recognizing the kind of assistance they needed and providing it.
