Staying on Course
Nancy Quarcelino and Rita Reason’s interactive video-illustrated golfing instruction book on CD, Staying on Course, “reads” like a book. Tanner- designed the book using Adobe’s enhanced pdf to play the 66 videos;
- created a DVD version containing all of the videos from the CD;
- optimized the videos to play on an iPod, enabling the lessons to be taken to the golf course for “field training”;
The result of Tanner’s partnership with Cybervision Text and Duthie Learning on this project was the realization of Quarcelino’s vision—the multi-media golf book Staying on Course: Mastering Golf’s Most Challenging Shots.

The SEI Way
The SEI Way, a 49-page, 5-chapter e-book with embedded videos that introduce each chapter is an especially effective way to highlight a “personality,” such as this company’s president, Ron Alvesteffer. Tanner- proposed the online format, rather than a regular printed paper book, to highlight Alvasteffer’s energy and enthusiasm;
- coached Alvasteffer on his speaking style;
- coordinated the video shoot;
- conducted hours of phone interviews to gather content;
- edited the cover design for production.
The result was an award-winning e-book distributed online through SEI’s website.

- provided an instructional design recommendation that included a blended approach, rich media online, and planned activities, to support Willis’ program to achieve cohesiveness among newly hired employees company wide and reduce the lag time between employee hiring and orientation;
- leveraged the company’s intranet to enable new employees to make contacts and introductions, familiarize themselves with the virtual workplace of Willis, and practice what they learned online, all prior to their in-person orientation sessions.
